Volunteering at the community, Sunday Night Meeting, collecting school supplies for Ethiopian children in Israel and a campaign to Free Jonathan Pollard.Hi Betarim, Hope everyone is alright! Here is the latest Betar update: 1) This Sunday (11/9) Betar is volunteering at the community Kristallnacht commemoration at Shaarei Tikvah. For those who can attend, please arrive at 2:15 pm. They need our help both before and during the program which officially starts at 3:00 pm. 2) There will be an informal Sunday Night Meeting at the Betar office this Sunday at 7:00 pm. Next Sunday (11/16) there will be a meeting as well at the office at 7:00 pm. Please try and attend. 3) Betar and ZOA are bringing Noam Bedein, founder and head of the Sderot Media Center, to Cleveland between Nov. 21-25. Noam is the photographer who shot the pictures used in our traveling Sderot exhibit last year. He will be speaking at an array of universities, schools and synagogues while in town. A complete list of where you can hear him will be published in the coming days. 4) Betar will be sponsoring a drive to collect school supplies for Ethiopian children in Israel. There will be boxes around town where you can drop off supplies. All the school supplies collected will be brought to Israel this winter by participants in the 2008-09 Betar Winter Trip to Israel. 5) Following Thanksgiving, Betar will kick off a campaign to Free Jonathan Pollard. Details of last years campaign can be found on http://betar.org/Free%20Pollard.html 6) This Thanksgiving, Betar will host its annual Thanksgiving Day "Turkey Bowl." The roughest, toughest game of football around. There should be a great turnout this year. Time and place T.B.A. Ok, that is about it for now. See everyone on Sunday. Also, if you are interested in getting involved with any upcoming activities (Noam Bedein, School supplies, Pollard, Turkey Bowl, etc) please let me know.
