one of the Betar's chapters
Cost: $ 11,500 + a plain ticket
Background: English or Spanish speakers
Vision:
Getting to know Israel through the Israeli society,
learning the Israeli perspective through living in Israel. Training
for young leadership of Betar and the community.
A year of traveling, studying and getting to know
people from Israel and all over the world. Participants come from
all over the world: South Africa, Australia and South America. A
great opportunity to get to know Israel, learn Hebrew and acquire
the right tools of leadership to contribute back to the community
and continue working for the local Betar chapter.
The program will consist of:
1 week orientation week in Jerusalem – welcoming the
group members.
Spend 4 months in a beautiful academy, located in
the kibbutz Meitzar, in the southern Golan Heights, and enjoy all
the benefits of a remote location: Fantastic views, farmlands at a
fair distance from bustling city life, and a diverse population
comprised of both religious and secular Israelis. The academy sees
great significance in forging ties and being involved in the Golan's
communities, its heritage and landscapes.
Vision of the Meitzar chapter:
The academy is an educational and idealistic institution, working to
create a Zionist-Jewish model society, by raising a young generation
of leaders, motivated by social responsibility and personal
excellence.
Pioneers of social consciousness and leadership:
The academy will provide its students with the tools to take
responsibility and develop leadership, both on an individual level
and within a group. This is achieved though a structured process,
that moves between providing boundaries and allowing for freedom.
Leadership skills:
Only when a person is given security, routine, discipline and
meaning on the one hand, and freedom of choice, free time,
responsibility and real action on the other, can a leader be
created.
The academy's alumni will first and foremost strive to bring into
effect in their personal lives, the movement and in their
communities, the values of Zionism and Judaism. In addition, they
will take it upon themselves to change the face of the Israeli
society, while spearheading the forces acting to achieve this goal.
Half of the day-to-day schedule is directed toward studying topics
that reflect the world view of the academy. Among these are
leadership and social responsibility, Jewish culture, society and
economics, the history of Zionism, philosophy, the Israeli society
and many more. The studying is conducted through lectures,
workshops, study groups and individual study sessions.
Betar's MASA program will also provide every
participant with Ulpan where he or she will be able to learn, read
and speak Hebrew.
